“Award substitutes for subsidy” for energy-saving enterprises
Xinhua Net, Beijing, 10th March 2010: when asked what measures the government will set forth for encouraging the enterprise’ effort in energy saving, Xie Zhenhua, Vice Minister of State Environmental Protection said, that the government’s mandatory targets for enterprises’ energy saving and emission reduction remain in line with the notion of balanced development and the sustainable development strategy. To an enterprise, energy saving actions will produce benefits in economy, environment and society, and will demonstrate its commitment to social responsibility as well.
In matching its demand for enterprises in energy saving and emission reduction, the government has worked out a number of incentive measures, for example, to substitute award for subsidy for those undergoing technical reform in energy saving; to provide support in pricing, taxation and fund raising for the technologies and industries conducive to energy saving and emission reduction; to provide awards for key enterprises’ achievements in tackling pollution; to offer preferential treatments in taxation to high-performing enterprises in waste recycling and usage; and to adopt a financial support policy for those energy-saving products.
