Carbon tax recommended in coming five years

Global Net, 23rd Sept 2009: The Financial Institute of China’s Financial Ministry has issued a report of a special team with the title of “The Studies on Collecting Carbon Tax in China”. It suggests to levy carbon tax in the coming five years, and figures out an implementation framework for the new system. The discussion of carbon tax amid some developed countries has triggered off discussion about the “time for carbon tax in China” among Chinese experts.
Some pointed out that in a long run, the levy of carbon tax can help restructuring the country’s energy industry, but in a short run, the likelihood appears little because the move will evoke some relevant issues. Responding to increasing voice in France and Germany on levying carbon tariffs, the experts noted that the move, anyway, maybe a good solution in addressing the mounting pressure on carbon taxes to be imposed on China.
